SHORT FILM SCHOLARSHIP: BUY GOOD CAMPAIGN
In order to support efforts to address climate change through reducing greenhouse gas emissions, WWF-Indonesia with the support of the German government initiated the Low Carbon Emission Consumption and Production Pattern Development program which aims to incorporate the principles of sustainable production and consumption ( sustainable consumption and production) in policy, business and social movement.
WWF-Indonesia targets changes at the community level through efforts to raise awareness and increase the understanding of society as consumers, regarding responsible consumer practices. This is done by perfecting the 'Buy Good' campaign initiated by WWF-Indonesia since 2015. Through a consultative process with a strategic communication consultant, a new strategy for the 'Buy Good' campaign was produced with six main 'Buy Good' messages, namely: Buy What you need, buy local, buy natural, buy durable, buy eco-labeled, where to take it
Along with the development of social media technology, video is one of the most popular sources of information for netizens and the easiest to get public attention in general. Therefore, WWF-Indonesia chose audio-visual as an effective communication material to convey messages and education to the public in order to broaden and increase understanding of responsible consumption.
WWF-Indonesia in collaboration with the MondiBlanc Film Workshop initiated the implementation of the “Short Film Scholarship Competition: Buy Good Campaign” which aims to invite public participation to produce works of art while at the same time contributing to efforts to protect biodiversity. The ten selected participants will have the opportunity to learn filmmaking techniques from a number of Indonesian film experts, including assistance from a number of film practitioners from various genres.
The debriefing activities will be carried out in workshop sessions for 1 week where participants will develop story ideas into a script which will then be produced into a short film. At the end of the workshop, the best story script will receive the main prize in the form of cash and the results of his work produced by WWF-Indonesia will become a 'Buy Good' campaign video which will be disseminated nationally on various communication channels of WWF-Indonesia and partners who support the campaign.
