BUMI PANDA RECEIVES VISIT FROM PENABUR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
By: Sani Firmansyah
Nine Penabur International School kindergarten students visited Bumi Panda to learn about environmental education. Starting with a tour around Bumi Panda, the Penabur International School kindergarten students were introduced to WWF-Indonesia as the oldest conservation organization in Indonesia and its various efforts across the archipelago. They marveled at photos of the animals that WWF-Indonesia's field teams focus on, such as rhinos, elephants, orangutans, tigers, turtles, and others.
The activity continued by watching the animated movie 'Banyu Di Dunia Air'. Afterward, the children were invited to learn about water through the water filtration process. "To get clean and clear results, water must be filtered with sand, charcoal, gravel, and palm fiber," Chloe concluded.
The children were also invited to categorize waste. "There are two types of waste. First, organic waste, which is waste that can be decomposed in nature. Second, non-organic waste, which is waste that needs to be processed again before disposal," explained Kak Dwi. Furthermore, the children also participated in making biopore holes in Bumi Panda's yard and put organic waste around the park into the holes. "The dry leaves that are put into the biopore hole will be eaten by worms that live in the soil," continued Kak Dwi.
Mr. William, Penabur International School Kindergarten Teacher who accompanied the students to visit Bumi Panda, appreciated the day's activities. "Hopefully, with this visit, the children can love the environment more and understand the green lifestyle in an easy way."
