An effective way for children to absorb information is through learning through play. This is what the Panda Mobile team did in a number of schools in mid-March. Last Wednesday (11/03), the Panda Mobile team educated students of Tunas Muda Kindergarten-SD, Kedoya, West Jakarta on how to manage and protect the environment. With the theme "Save the Environment", the volunteers invited around 105 kindergarten and elementary school students to care more about the environment through various activities.
Adjusted to the age level, various materials were delivered to them. Kindergarten students gained knowledge through storytelling by Kak Ryan and movie screenings on the Panda Mobile truck. Meanwhile, 3rd and 4th graders participated in cricket, snakes and ladders, "Cops and Tigers", and "Ecosystem Balance" games. Afterwards, they also watched a movie on the Panda Mobile truck. To increase their knowledge, students in grades 3 and 4 could try their hand at making brooches and paperbags from old newspapers. This activity aims to help them understand the importance of the 3Rs (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle). Although packaged in play activities, the meaning of action to save the earth can be conveyed well.
Another school visited by the Panda Mobile Team was Az Zahra Cibubur Kindergarten. The visit on Friday (13/03) carried the theme "Energy Saving". The story of the "Energy Vampire" presented by Kak Ryan in the storytelling session was able to attract the attention of students and teachers at Az Zahra Kindergarten. The second visit to the school was done in conjunction with Earth Hour 2015, so the students were also invited to watch a movie about saving energy. After the last activity, which was coloring, all students and teachers took a group photo and made a video as a form of support for the Earth Hour 2015 movement.
Not only visiting schools, the Panda Mobile Team also visited PT SSI Karawang on Saturday (03/14). The 6-wheeled educational truck participated in the "Green Club" event. This activity involved students from various elementary schools in the Karawang area. Beginning with an introduction from Sharp and WWF-Indonesia, the event continued with a storytelling session by Kak Ryan. Not only listening to stories, all participants also had the opportunity to watch movies, play games, and do 3R activities in turn. The series of events closed with the distribution of certificates to schools that participated in the day's activities.
