TROPICAL LANDSCAPES SUMMIT 2015, A GLOBAL INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY
Tropical Landscapes Summit (TLS) 2015 is an event to promote and increase green investment in Indonesia for sustainable business. TLS 2015 also invited speakers from within and outside the country, initiated by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). Tropical Landscapes Summit 2015 took the theme "A Global Investment Opportunity", held for two days at Shangri La Hotel Jakarta on April 27-28, 2015, inaugurated by the Head of BKPM, Franky Sirabani, Deputy Secretary General and Administrative Association, Mrs. Gina Casar, as well as the Vice President of Indonesia, Mr. Jusuf Kalla.
Also present in this activity, the General Director of WWF-International, Dr. Marco Lamberthini who was also one of the speakers in several panel discussions participated in providing views at the opening session of the TLS seminar. Dr. Marco Lamberthini revealed that three important points that must also be considered in Green Investment are strengthening the economic system for environmental issues, Indonesia's rich seas and strict law enforcement.
"Since people are now aware of environmental issues, it is time for us to take concrete actions to achieve the world's conservation targets.", Dr. Marco Lamberthini.
There are three implementation challenges discussed on Green Investment in Indonesia, namely Technology, Competence and Government Incentives. This was also supported by Mr. Franky's question in his speech, that the Green Investment target in Indonesia is $100 billion dollars. If this is not maximized as well as possible, it is certain that in the future coal energy in Indonesia will only be 50% left. Because one of Indonesia's commitments in Green Investment is to replace fossil fuels for power plants with geothermal and hydro. This means that the role that Indonesia plays in managing its landscape can have a good influence on the world.
The Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya also attended this activity and became a panelist. In the discussion, she expressed the need for a government commitment to the enforcement of forest concession regulations in Indonesia to support Green Investment. She emphasized that currently strict law enforcement against illegal logging is a big PR of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. However, Indonesia has a great opportunity in organizing Green Investment.
