Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia had the opportunity to visit Sekolah Alam Citra Alam Ciganjur, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (06/12). This time, Panda Mobile invites students at this school that has a concept close to nature to care more about the environment through various creative activities that involve active participation of students, including the "spaceship" game and recycling used t-shirts into shopping bags.
In the "spaceship" game, students were divided into groups and invited to express their imagination in visual form. They were allowed to draw objects that they thought would be important to bring to the spaceship if the Earth was destroyed. Some drew space rockets and wrote down mountains, plants, animals and water in the list of objects they considered important. After finishing the drawing, each group presented their work.
The students also practiced directly one of the real efforts to reduce the use of plastic bags by using shopping bags made from used T-shirts. Through this activity, the students gained new insights to turn objects that are no longer used into more useful objects.
In addition, education about the environment was also delivered in the form of storytelling. Mr. Ryan from Panda Mobile told the story of Ocan who keeps tigers and orangutans. Since the animals are protected, Baim, Ocan's older brother, asked to report them to the authorities so that they can be released to their natural habitat in the forest. The students were reminded that wild animals are not pets. Various other creative activities, such as cricket games, watching movies, and observing water using the water laboratory facility were carried out with the Panda Mobile team.
At the end of the activity, Khoir, one of the Environmental Education teachers at Sekolah Alam Citra Alam Ciganjur hoped that the activity with Panda Mobile could make students appreciate and help conservation, both for the environment and endangered animals.
