PANDA MOBILE INTRODUCES ENDANGERED ANIMALS TO SAINT JOHN MERUYA SCHOOL STUDENTS
By: Faradiba Engelen (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
The activity began with an introduction from the Panda Mobile team about WWF-Indonesia. Then Kak Ryan told a story about orangutans and tigers who tried to protect the forest as their home which was destroyed by humans. From the story, Kak Ryan advised the students to preserve the environment so that animals like orangutans and tigers do not become extinct. The children looked very enthusiastic and happy to hear the story told by Kak Ryan.
After listening to the story, the students were divided into several groups to participate in other activities with the Panda Mobile team. In the first post, they watched a movie on the Panda Mobile truck entitled "Tiger Hunter". Angelina, one of the students who felt interested in the movie asked, "Sis, do tigers bite people?" Dimas, a Panda Mobile volunteer replied, "Of course (tigers) bite people who are bad to them. If he is bullied, then he will defend himself by biting."
In addition to watching the movie, the students were also invited to get to know endangered animals through the game "Jelajah Papua", cranklek, and coloring activities. Each activity was enthusiastically welcomed by the students from Saint John Meruya School. Some of them have a high curiosity about endangered animals and the environment by asking questions in every question and answer session.
"Thank you brothers and sisters from Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia for the opportunity to visit our school. The children are very happy and enthusiastic. They get education about animals and environment and receive this conservation message through fun activities," said Ms. Gloria, Principal of Saint John Meruya School, West Jakarta who conveyed her impression of the presence of the WWF-Indonesia Mobile Panda.
