CHILDREN'S ROLE IN CONSERVATION FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
Tuesday morning September 9, 2024, it was not yet 08:00, but the sun was hot and warm on my skin. On that day, I had the opportunity to participate in Panda Mobile activities to fill the Literacy and Numeracy Festival event at SD Labschool Cibubur.
The event was attended by around 240 students from two different grade levels. The enthusiastic faces of the students were followed by curiosity to see the big truck full of colorful stickers. This time, the mobile panda truck was present at the Literacy and Numeracy Festival to provide education on environmental education by conducting educational activities to attract students through various activities.
The festival was held for one day. The activities used a creative approach by combining literacy and numeracy with educational games. Children had the opportunity to participate in three types of games namely Engklek Orang Utan, Engklek Kehidupan Laut, and Jelajah Papua
In Engklek game, they read out the facts listed in the game arena, while in Jelajah Papua, they mention the characteristics of animals originating from Papua based on the cards provided. This activity made the game more interesting and increased the children's knowledge about different types of animals and their habitats. Each game is designed to introduce facts interesting facts about animals while providing a fun learning experience.
The game session lasted 15 minutes with a rolling system, ensuring that all children got a turn to play. The children were very enthusiastic about playing. In addition, the Panda Mobile truck was present to add educational value to the event. In this truck, children watched educational videos accompanied by teachers and the WWF-Indonesia team.
This festival is expected to inspire similar activities in the future, combining learning with creativity to create a memorable experience for children.
Building the City of the Future: Children as Pioneers of Plastic Waste Reduction Plastic waste
We often hear campaigns about plastic waste these days. But have we been able to refrain or at least reduce its use?
In addition to being involved in the Literacy and Numeracy Festival, Panda Mobile is also actively socializing the Zero Waste School program targeting schools in the Ciliwung River basin. Some time ago, the panda mobile team had the opportunity to attend SMPN 29, Depok to provide information and invitation to reduce the use of plastic waste.
Through this socialization, students are expected to know the problems and solutions related to waste problems. It is hoped that students will manage their plastic waste more wisely in the future.
Through the discussion, the students were taught that they can contribute and have a big role in protecting the environment. Because small steps will have a big impact if done together.
