Ahead of the celebration of EARTH HOUR 2016, Bumi Panda as the educational home of WWF-Indonesia also campaigned the message in order to overcome the impact of climate change. This time, the message was delivered at SD Taruna Bakti Bandung on Tuesday (03/15). After introducing WWF-Indonesia, Sani Firmansyah from Bumi Panda explained about the EARTH HOUR celebration that will be held simultaneously on Saturday (19/03). In the celebration, for one hour, at the same time, the public of various ages are invited to join in turning off lights and electrical devices that they do not use and subsequently become a lifestyle.

The climate change message started with watching the movie "Banyu's Adventure in the Land of Electricity". Through this animated movie, the students gained knowledge about energy that can be depleted if not used wisely. They were also introduced to various new renewable energy sources.

The team from Bumi Panda then invited the students to get to know various sources of new renewable electrical energy in the form of simple props in the form of solar panel cars, dynamo lights, and windmills. "Now I understand that the sun can also produce electrical energy using solar panels," said Bimo, a 6th grade student. Information about renewable energy was also conveyed through a story with the media puppet show.

This year, one of the themes of EARTH HOUR Indonesia is #HijaukanHutan. Therefore, students were invited to recycle used bottles to be utilized as hydroponic planting media. Facilitators from Bumi Panda explained that global warming can be minimized by saving energy use and by planting trees in the surrounding environment.

"Thank you to the brothers and sisters from Bumi Panda WWF-Indonesia who have educated our children at SD Taruna Bakti through EARTH HOUR introduction activities. The students are more aware of other ways to protect the environment," said Marcellina Peni, Principal of SD Taruna Bakti Bandung.
