WWF-INDONESIA AND FWD LIFE IN RESTORING LAND IN INDONESIA
Jakarta, December 4, 2019 - PT FWD Life Indonesia ("FWD Life") today announced its partnership with the WWF Indonesia Foundation (WWF-Indonesia) for the 'Go Green' campaign. 'Go Green' is the company's effort to support environmental sustainability by encouraging customers to choose an e-Policy over a printed policy. Every e-Policy sold will be converted to support nature conservationists who have helped in tackling forest fires in Indonesia.
"Buying and holding a physical insurance policy can consume a lot of paper which has a negative impact on the environment. So many trees have been cut down just to print FWD Life policies, so you can imagine the amount needed for the insurance industry. We started the 'Go Green' campaign to help customers understand the benefits behind the e-Policy. While customers will still receive a summary of important policy information, they can also rest assured that their digital e-Policy is impossible to lose. The best part is that customers receive all these benefits while contributing to saving the planet," says FWD Life's Director & Chief of Proposition & Sharia Officer, Ade Bungsu.
Forest fires in Indonesia are a recurring problem every year. This results in a lot of damaged land and many people living in the surrounding areas have to be evacuated due to poor air quality. After the fires are extinguished, there is still the problem of the land becoming barren with no trees. "We decided to work with WWF-Indonesia to help solve this problem by restoring and replanting the forests and lands that were burnt down in Indonesia. People need to better understand and care about the forest fires in Indonesia that have occurred repeatedly and unexpectedly. Therefore, the 'Go Green' campaign aims to restore the forests damaged by the fires as well as make donations to the people fighting these fires," said FWD Life Chief Marketing Officer, Maika Randini.
For every e-Policy purchased, FWD Life will convert it into a donation that will be used to restore the forest and land. FWD Life will also provide cover for 36 conservationists who are helping to fight fires in the affected areas. They will be covered with FREE AKSI FLASH insurance, FWD Life's comprehensive personal accident insurance, for three months with total compensation of up to IDR1.8 billion.
"We really appreciate FWD Life's innovation to care more about the environment in business management. FWD Life shares the same passion as WWF-Indonesia and believes that we must preserve the earth and create harmony in nature. Conservationists on the ground have worked tirelessly to help tackle forest fires and preserve nature. This campaign not only means a lot to them, but also helps us to inspire the public about the importance of protecting forests for the future of all of us Indonesians," said WWF-Indonesia's Director of Human Capital & Legal, Apin Aviyan.
Not only supporting conservationists, through this campaign FWD Life will plant and care for trees in affected areas in Sumatra. The number of trees planted is also a conversion of the number of e-Policies purchased. This is done to encourage customers to participate in the company's ongoing reforestation efforts. "Customers can now not only protect themselves and their loved ones, but also the environment, ultimately providing a better future for the next generation. We look forward to helping customers contribute to the development of a sustainable environment and be part of this good cause," Ade concluded.
