By: Muhammad Azhari Lubis (Volunteer Panda Mobile) & Natalia Trita Agnika
Scenes of a rhino, Sumatran tiger, Sumatran elephant and orangutan started the movie "Quartet at the Crossroads" screened in front of students of Generasi Rabbani Kindergarten, Gunung Putri, Bogor during Panda Mobile's visit on Wednesday (30/11). The movie tells the story of Indonesia's forests, which are home to the four umbrella animals. The movie, which was screened on the Panda Mobile truck, explained their various ecological roles and the threats that have caused their population to decline. At the end of the movie, various conservation efforts that have been made so that the four animals not only survive but are also able to thrive in their natural habitat are also shown. In addition to "Quartet at the Crossroads", the students also watched the movies "Tiger Hunter", "The World is Where We Live", and "Animal Planet".
After watching the movie, Panda Mobile volunteers explained the movie's message about the condition of nature and the animals. They also asked the students questions about the animals in the movie and introduced some of the animals they didn't know. Movie screenings are one of the things that children love when Panda Mobile visits their schools. Messages about conservation can be absorbed easily through audio visuals.
Panda Mobile's visit to Generasi Rabbani Kindergarten was also filled with storytelling by Kak Ryan about the friendship between tigers and orangutans, coloring pictures of six umbrella species, and playing orangutan and tiger-themed cricket. These activities made the students more familiar with the characteristics of animals and why they should be protected. The orangutan-themed cricket game, for example, provided an explanation of the orangutan's habitat and the types of food it consumes. In an atmosphere of fun, the information was well absorbed by the students.
The Panda Mobile activity was closed by taking a photo with the Panda Mobile team and delivering messages by volunteers to the children to always protect the environment by not littering. They were also told to keep the river and the neighborhood clean.
