TFCA 2 KALIMANTAN SOCIALIZED IN WEST KUTAI
Sendawar (10/10). The Regional Secretary of West Kutai Regency, Drs. Aminuddin, M.Si, opened the Socialization of the Tropical Forest Conservation Action (TFCA 2) Program in Kalimantan at the 3rd floor Training Room, West Kutai Regent's Office, Wednesday, October 10, 2012. The Regent of West Kutai in his written speech read by Drs. Aminuddin, M.Si, expressed his gratitude to the TFCA Team for fulfilling the invitation of the West Kutai District Government to conduct the program socialization. "The West Kutai District Government is committed to conservation efforts and community economic improvement through sustainable forest management, which is in line with the district's mission in efficient natural resource management and environmental conservation for community economic improvement and sustainable development in West Kutai," he said.
On the other hand, Nasir Foead, Conservation Director of WWF Indonesia, stated that the purpose of this socialization is, "to convey the information of TFCA 2 program and the program framework to be implemented to the parties as well as to discuss and collect important program issues or activities in the region, which are possible to be included in the preparation of TFCA 2 Kalimantan implementation plan, especially in West Kutai District."" Regarding the role of WWF Indonesia in TFCA 2 and WWF Indonesia's conservation programs, Nasir stated that as one of the members of the TFCA 2 program supervisory board, WWF Indonesia will monitor the implementation of programs for environmental conservation and capacity building of community institutions to play an active role in environmental conservation, especially in West Kutai District. The TFCA program will also support the implementation of conservation programs in the HoB area in West Kutai. "The implementation and success of the TFCA 2 program will require the active role of various parties, including the district government, local communities, customary institutions, private sector, and non-governmental organizations," he added. He further added that WWF Indonesia will remain a partner of the West Kutai District Government in conducting activities that support sustainable development through the HoB program in the West Kutai region.
Present in this socialization were representatives from the Forestry Department, USAID, Bappeda, Mining and Energy Office, Public Works Office, Presidium of the West Kutai Customary Council, Bentian and Sekolaq Customary Institutions, Linggang Bigung Subdistrict, Bentian Besar Subdistrict, Environmental Agency, BPMK, Forestry Service, Plantation Service, Food Crops, Fisheries, and Animal Husbandry, YPSS, Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports Office, WWF Indonesia, TNC, Kehati, Mount Eno Linggang Melapeh Management Team, Mount Menaliq and Simpukng Ulin Penarung Management, Setkab Public Relations, Kaltim Post Daily, East Kalimantan Tribune, Pos Kota, Swara, and Sinar Pagi.
