SCHOOL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
The environment is inseparable from human life, and humans are part of the environment. Environmental problems will have an impact on human life and well-being now and in the future.
Therefore, through the Commemoration of Natural Resources Conservation Day 2015 and with the spirit of the 70th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, WWF Indonesia held a Go to School activity in West Kutai. Through this activity is expected to foster an awareness and concern for the environment from an early age, especially teenagers to support and assist environmental conservation efforts through activities carried out in the school and home environment.
This activity was held from August 10-15, 2015 in 10 schools namely SMAN 1 Linggang Bigung, SMAN 1 Sendawar, SMAN 2 Sendawar, SMKN 2 Sendawar, SMPN 2 Sendawar, SMP and SMK Purnama Barong Tongkok, SMK Surya Mandala Barong Tongkok, SMP Katholik Barong Tongkok, and SMK St. Joseph Barong Tongkok. This activity received a positive response and welcome from the school and is expected to be implemented on an ongoing basis. This is very useful for providing knowledge and information to students about environmental conservation efforts, and hopes that participants can disseminate information and apply it at school in the hope of realizing an outstanding and environmentally sound school.
This environmental counseling activity at school is a form of school participation and concern to support environmental conservation efforts that can be started from the school environment. The speakers in this activity were from the West Kutai Education Office and the West Kutai Environmental Agency.
