"SAVE SUMATRA" VISITS TUNAS MUDA SCHOOL IN JAKARTA

Jakarta (01/10)-Deepest concern for earth and conservation can be expressed by all people at any ages, from any educational backgrounds, professions, and so on. Sometimes children at schools could also take part in protecting nature.
Since the beginning of October, WWF has worked with Tunas Muda School Jakarta conducting a program called Conservation Festival, an initiative of Tunas Muda School. WWF-Indonesia Communication Officer for ""Save Sumatra"" campaign, Dyah Eka Rini visited Tunas Muda School in Kedoya and Meruya, Jakarta transferring knowledege regarding biodiversities in Sumatra to students from Kindergarten level to Senior HIgh School (SMU) level. It is one of acivities series for Save Sumatra campaign.
All students showed their enthusiasm. Rini challenged them to change their way of using paper. ""We have to start using paper wisely at the very young age, for example use paper back-forth,"" Rini said. By using paper efficiently, we have contributed in protecting forest and species in Sumatra. ""Are you ready for this challenge?"" asked Rini. All students simultaneously answered, ""Yes, we are!!""
One of student shared his story: ""I once visited my relatives and had a holiday in Riau, I saw thick smoke. My dad said it was caused by forest fire. Because of that smoke, my family and I didn't stay longer there and decided to go back to Jakarta. Unlucky me, holiday canceled.""
WWF didn't only conduct campaign and educate students, but also give chance for students who want to give donation for Sumatra conservation program. Every student could buy adoption package provided by WWF-Indonesia. Adoption package were provided symbolically in the form of Orangutan, elephant, tiger, and Sumatran rhino. The donation will be used for WWF forest and species conservation program in Sumatra.
