PANDA MOBILE ENLIVENS GREEN SCHOOL FESTIVAL
By: Sarah Az Zahra (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
Saturday (26/11), the Panda Mobile team enlivened the Green School Festival at Salman Alfarisi School in Bogor. This is the umpteenth time the Panda Mobile team has visited Salman Alfarisi School and filled the annual event which has a different theme every year. This year, the Panda Mobile team came with Panda Mobile trucks as media and facilities for children to do activities.
After the speech and introduction to WWF-Indonesia, the Panda Mobile activity continued with storytelling by Kak Ryan. Relying on the guitar and interesting singing, Kak Ryan managed to grab the attention of the students to listen to the story. The story was about the threat of extinction to endangered animals and the logging of forests where animals live. The children listened seriously and were carried away by the story told by Kak Ryan. At the end of the story, Kak Ryan gave a message to the students to protect and preserve the Earth and then directed them to get on the Panda Mobile truck.
On the truck, which can be converted into a multifunctional stage, the students watched environmental-themed movies. Some of the movies shown included the causes of water damage due to tree cutting, factory waste disposal into rivers, and solutions to prevent water damage.
On top of the Panda Mobile truck, there is also a library that has various collections of books about the environment. Students are welcome to choose and read books according to their own desires. With the help of Panda Mobile volunteers, they searched for the books they wanted. The volunteers also help explain to them about the story written in the book.
The Panda Mobile activity at Salam Alfarisi School was closed along with the end of the series of Green School Festival activities marked by the distribution of prizes for various competitions.
