PANDA EARTH KEEPS THE MESSAGE OF A SUSTAINABLE EARTH CLOSE TO HEART
By: Natalia Trita Agnika
Since its inauguration on January 24, 2014, Bumi Panda has become one of the destinations for the public in West Java to meet the needs of information related to the environment and various conservation efforts carried out by WWF-Indonesia for the preservation of endangered animals.
For almost three years, Bumi Panda has been visited by more than 5,000 people, hosted 20 conservation discussions and 47 community discussions, and collaborated with 35 institutions & corporations in various events for the benefit of nature conservation. The various facilities inside provide a unique experience for visitors, from students who have just come once with their school groups to community activists who have visited many times to discuss for a sustainable Earth. All who have visited Bumi Panda have a deep impression of this environmental information house.
Most Fun Meeting Place in Bandung
I often visit Bumi Panda with my fellow #DietKantongPlastik volunteers. Initially I came because there was a #DietKantongPlastik volunteer training, but then often came when there were discussion activities organized by Bumi Panda and WWF-Indonesia.
Bumi Panda is a good place for everyone to learn more about environmental/conservation issues. Unfortunately, there is only one in Bandung in Indonesia. In fact, Bumi Panda can be placed in conservation areas in Indonesia to bring environmental issues closer to the public. As long as Bumi Panda is in Bandung, I am more exposed to conservation issues and encourage the younger generation in Bandung to actively understand this issue.
Of the several rooms in Bumi Panda, I am most impressed with the living room and library. The center room is the most comfortable place to hold training. Apart from being spacious, the air circulation is good. There is also interesting information about conservation. The library at Bumi Panda is also my favorite because it has a large collection of books that I really like.
There are many things that I got at Bumi Panda, ranging from knowledge, colleagues, and enriching networks. And certainly, in Bandung, the most fun meeting place is only at Bumi Panda.

Learn about the Environment the Fun Way
When I had the opportunity to visit Bumi Panda with my school group, I felt happy because there was a lot of information to learn about the environment. The learning development potential is also fun. From Bumi Panda, I got various information about conservation carried out by WWF in various parts of Indonesia.
The concept of an open educational house that can be accessed by anyone makes Bumi Panda even more interesting. At Bumi Panda, I also learned to collaborate with friends and develop programs.

Meet the Expert Directly
When I attended the "Meet the Experts" talk show series conducted in Panda's Land with the theme "Awakening from Papua", I felt very happy. Papua is a distant place, where we get very little information and the information is not necessarily correct. Now, through the "Awakening from Eastern Indonesia" discussion, I can get the information directly from WWF-Indonesia staff who are doing conservation work there. That is very valuable.

For almost three years, Bumi Panda has succeeded in making WWF-Indonesia have a special place in the hearts of the public, especially in the hearts of the people of Bandung. However, effective December 31, 2016, Bumi Panda at Jl. Geusan Ulun No. 3 will cease operations. WWF-Indonesia realizes that the presence of Bumi Panda is not limited to the presence of the building. Where the conservation message is delivered by WWF-Indonesia, that is where Bumi Panda is located.
Environmental education activities by WWF-Indonesia in Pasundan land will still continue even though Bumi Panda is no longer operating. All forms of cooperation on environmental education can still be submitted via email to: supporter-service@wwf.id or bumipanda@wwf.id.
