NEWSLETTER RSPO 17TH EDITION (OCT-DEC 2009)
This 17th Edition Newsletter covers articles about the Fourth RSPO Public Forum held in Le Meridien Hotel,Jakarta on 11 August 2009. The forum carrying theme ""Sustainable Palm Oil: Why is it important!"" aimed to discuss the increasing importance of sustainable palm oil today. It also features membership profile as of October 2009.
RSPO EU Communications article about the increasing number of RSPO certified sustainable palm oil or corresponding certificates is also highlighted. The RSPO announced in the last two months alone,more than a quarter of million tonnes (metric tons) of RSPO certified sustainable palm oil have been purchased since becoming available late last year.
The Newsletter also gave special space for MVO's seminar on the state of the RSPO certified sustainable palm oil and how to purchase it held on 25 September. The seminar was attended by representatives of more then 50 companies.
There is also update on National Interpretations of RSPO P&C featuring report about the establishment of The Ghana National Interpretation Working Group (GNIWG) on the 30th of September 2009 and the 1st Thailand NIWG Meeting conducted on 16-18 September 2009.
A member of INA-SWG from WWF-Indonesia, Dani Rahadian wrote about smallholder training in Jambi, South Sumatra, Riau, and West Kalimantan Province. The training was jointly organized by the Indonesian Department of Agriculture, WWF-Indonesia and Fauna Flora International (FFI) under the Indonesian Smallholder Working Group (INASWG).
