Jakarta(17/10)-Three NGOs, Greenpeace, WWF-Indonesia, and Oxfam united in GCCA (Global Campaign on Climate Action) coalition conducted the Premiere of a documentary animation drama titled The Age of Stupid in Tugu Proklamasi, Central Jakarta on Saturday (17/10).
The event was preceded by bicycle convoy as a campaign to reduce emission, musical performance by Acapella group Jamaica Café and environment discussion presenting Armi Susandi the global warming expert who is also the member of National Board on Climate Change (DNPI), an environmentalist Abdul Qodir, and Davina Hariadi, celebrity and WWF-Indonesia Honorary Supporter.
The screening of the Age of Stupid carried on the concept of low carbon and zero waste. Visitors were appealed for using bicycle or public transportation and bringing their own drinking bottles. The committee provided water dispensers spread out in many spots to make visitors easy to refill their bottles.

Coordinator of GCCA, Rully Prayogo said the Age of Stupid directed by Franny Armstrong and produced by Lizzie Gillet was trying to capture earth catastrophe occurred in 2055 and highlighted human stupidity why they did nothing to stop climate change effect.
“This film is part of screening series conducted in almost every country in the world. First, it was launched in England on March. Then we made the big launching in New York on 21 September. Basically the film aimed to push advanced countries and all world leaders to come to Copenhagen and make changes. Particularly to Indonesia which is the most susceptible to climate change effect,” Rully added.

“Raising public awareness through film is very effective comparing to speech or other campaign instruments since we are used to think visually. By watching the Age of Stupid, in my opinion, people will be more aware of climate change effect and I expect all of us will be encouraged  to make changes for the better world,” said Davina Hariadi, Honorary Suportaer who attended the premier.
 
Not only raising public awareness on climate change, the secreening of The Age of Stupid is also expected to become a refelection for all world policy makers to accelerate climate agreement which will be negotiated in UNFCC hold on Copenhagen this December. Anything to save our earth from climate change tragedy.
