By: Irfan Alifian (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
Saturday (01/09), Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia had the opportunity to visit KidzArt Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, in an event entitled "Art Party with WWF-Indonesia". The special activity was deliberately packaged interestingly so that children can be more familiar with nature and wildlife and know how to help protect it. This is the first time Panda Mobile has visited KidzArt Tanjung Duren.< br />
One of the activities carried out with Panda Mobile is watching an educational movie entitled "We Are Connected" on the back cabin of the Panda Mobile truck which can be opened into a stage. Through the movie, children can learn that animals in the wild are similar to humans. "Animals are just like humans, they eat and drink," said Jonathan, one of the students when asked to retell the contents of the movie.< br />
Apart from the Panda Mobile truck, activities also took place in the classroom. There the children were invited to play "Sumatran Tiger", "Orangutan", and "Water for Elephant" snakes and ladders. While playing cricket, the children received information about the characteristics of Sumatran tigers and orangutans. They were very excited to play accompanied by the volunteers. Likewise, in playing snakes and ladders "Water for Elephant", they learned about the threats and challenges faced by elephants when exploring the forest, ranging from illegal logging to meeting poachers who want to take their ivory.
The "Art Party with WWF-Indonesia" activity organized by KidzArt Tanjung Duren was open to the public so that in addition to KidzArt students, there were also parents who participated in the activity. The parents seemed to be diligently accompanying their children in the activity of making hydroponics from used bottles. "With the presence of Panda Mobile, children get an overview of the current environment. We hope that as the next generation, they can describe a much better future for the Earth," said Veronica, one of the parents of KidzArt students.
As a closing activity, the participants were invited to gather to listen to exciting stories about animal conservation in the forest with Kak Ryan which was greeted with warm enthusiasm from the participants and parents who came.
