SDK PENABUR 11 STUDENTS VOICE THE FATE OF INDONESIA'S ENDANGERED ANIMALS

A group of elementary school students seemed eager to voice the existence of typical animals from Indonesia, especially the Sumatran Tiger. This took place in the hall and field of SDK Penabur 11 West Jakarta on Friday (15/12/2017). Together with WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile team, the students talked about the rampant poaching of Sumatran Tigers to utilize all parts of its body. "The skin is used as a carpet, the bones are used as traditional medicines," said Anthonie, a 5th grade student to parents who attended the campaign event with the theme "Save Indonesia's Biodiversity".
The event, which coincided with the end of the odd semester, was used by the students to educate their parents about endangered animals and the environment. A month earlier, students at SDK Penabur 11 had already been visited by the Panda Mobile team and received information about green lifestyles. Now it is the students' turn to voice this to those closest to them.
In addition to campaigning, they also did fundraising. By utilizing used goods, they made various works that were later auctioned and purchased by parents. "The children's creativity is very good. This can be seen from the used items used and the results are auctioned to all visitors, including me. I hope that this auction can help WWF-Indonesia's efforts to protect nature," said Budianto, one of the parents of SDK Penabur 11 West Jakarta students.
"Thank you Panda Mobile for visiting and sharing information about conservation efforts carried out by WWF-Indonesia. I hope that with this event, our students can increase their awareness of the importance of the environment," said Tuti, one of the teachers of SDK Penabur 11 West Jakarta.
