By: Pratama Aditya Haryanto and Natalia Trita Agnika
There was something different about Panda Mobile's visit to SD Percik Menteng, Jakarta on Wednesday (13/05). At that time the school was holding an introduction to professions, including aviation, medicine, sports, broadcasting, and others. The presence of the Panda Mobile team was utilized to introduce several professions in the field of conservation while providing knowledge about the environment and protected animals.
During the activity, the students were able to choose the profession they were interested in. Unexpectedly, the profession in the field of conservation that will be explained by the Panda Mobile team is a profession that quite a lot of them are interested in. Many students also follow the activities carried out by Panda Mobile.
Starting with storytelling, Kak Ryan explained the various professions in WWF-Indonesia in the form of interesting stories. The students seemed enthusiastic to learn about the things that are done by various professions in the field of conservation, such as marine researchers and forestry researchers. Evidently, they asked many questions related to the professions in WWF-Indonesia.
After the storytelling session, the students followed the movie watching and discussion activities. Kak Tama explained various information about the natural resources in Indonesia, both in the sea and in the forest. The students were very interested in knowing the extent of the forest and the types of protected animals. One of the knowledge gained by the students was about the types of fish that cannot be caught and consumed because they are protected species. They also got a better idea of the professions in WWF-Indonesia and their role in preserving nature.
Another activity organized by the Panda Mobile team was the 3R (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) activity. The enthusiasm of the students increased because the 3R activities were carried out on the Panda Mobile truck which was transformed into a place to play and learn. Accompanied by volunteers, they transformed used items into more useful objects. They also used the opportunity to get a closer look at the contents of the Panda Mobile truck.
After all the activities, the students took pictures with the volunteers from the Panda Mobile team. The organizing committee from the school hopes that the students will gain knowledge about the various professions that exist and can already target the choice of profession they want to pursue in the future. This opens up the opportunity that some of them will be called to choose a profession in the field of conservation and become part of the people who dedicate themselves to environmental sustainability.
