EDUCATION TRAINING FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
FCC (Farm Culture Center) based in Gondosari, Pacitan Regency, East Java in collaboration with WWF-Indonesia held training and mentoring activities. This activity is aimed at school teachers who are assisted by WWF-Indonesia in the Education for Sustainable Development program, school committees and also the community around the school who support the program.
This mentoring and training was held in Pacitan, East Java for 10 days starting on August 05 until August 15, 2015. This activity was also not only attended by participants from North Kalimantan, especially Malinau, but also other participants from West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan. The activity, which raised the theme of Education for Sustainable Development based on Efficient Management of Local Resources, aims to prepare local human resources who have a strong understanding, awareness and commitment to the development of education programs for sustainable development based on the efficiency of local resource management in each location.
On the sidelines of the delivery of the material, Bandung E Suseno as the facilitator in this activity said that the natural conditions in Pacitan were very arid but the farmers did various ways by utilizing existing resources so that the farmers could still carry out farming activities, as well as those expected from the participants who came from Kalimantan to be able to see the natural conditions around them with gratitude and be able to utilize the resources in Kalimantan properly and wisely so that they could produce agricultural, plantation or other products that were useful for themselves and also for many people. Some of the materials presented were about crop cultivation techniques, introduction to animal husbandry (cows, goats and feed), interpersonal communication and observation (purpose, objectives and benefits), rural social analysis and education and several other materials.
Mr. Barnabas and Bapal Sihin representing SDN 002 Malinau Selatan Hilir as well as Mr. Philius and Mr. Samuel representing the Setulang village community following the Mentoring and Training activities said that they were looking forward to practicing the lessons they learned from the local farmers in their village.
In this activity the participants stayed at the homes of local residents who work as farmers so that the participants could also see firsthand how to farm, garden and also raise livestock. On this occasion the participants were also invited to make observations to several tourist attractions in Pacitan, namely Klayar Beach and Tabuhan Cave, the participants were invited to see how they manage natural resources, human resources and others, besides that the participants also mapped the potential of their respective villages. So that on the last day of this training the participants already had a lot of provisions to finalize the project plan that had previously been made for their respective regions. And during the final presentation of the project plan from each region, participants from North Kalimantan, especially Setulang village, asked that students or young generations in Setulang village must continue to be taught culture and be introduced to local resources so that in the future the culture and nature in Setulang are maintained.
