"In planning a campaign, we need teamwork from various parties. Then there's engagement, the process of bringing people together, working together so that everyone has a sense of ownership of the campaign we create. The third is learn. Keep on learning. Always learning because everything is constantly changing. The three are abbreviated as TEL (Teamwork-Engagement-Learning)," explained Sunarto, WWF-Indonesia's Animal and Landscape Ecologist, when asked how to make a campaign successful in the "How to Organize Better Campaigns #ForChange" organized by campaign.com on Tuesday (04/04) at @America, Pacific Place, Jakarta.
On the occasion, WWF-Indonesia also received an award from campaign.com as the winner of the 2017 Campaign of the Year for the #DoubleTigers Campaign. The campaign was launched on July 29, 2016 in conjunction with Global Tiger Day. The public is invited to support tiger conservation with the hashtag #DoubleTigers either in the form of a photo or an inspiring sentence. "The #DoubleTigers campaign began with concerns about tiger extinction. WWF has been conducting tiger surveys since the 1970s. The population numbers continue to decline, the habitat is decreasing. We in the field have been working for tiger conservation for a long time. But we feel that what we do is not enough if we work alone. We need to engage more people, support from the public, policies from the government, "explained Sunarto about the background of the #DoubleTigers Campaign.
The campaign involved 30 public figures and collaborated with various strategic partners by conducting activations offline and online. The echo of the #DoubleTigers campaign is also still ongoing through goes to school, Run For Tiger activities, and other activations that support the #DoubleTigers campaign.
The Talkshow attended by changemakers was closed with the launch of the campaign.com app by William Gondokusumo, CEO of campaign.com. The app, which can be downloaded for free on the App Store and Play Store, is a tool for organizations and individuals who want to create campaigns for better change. One of WWF-Indonesia's recently launched campaigns that can be followed through this app is the #30ClapsChallenge.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the #DoubleTigers campaign. The amplification of this campaign has resulted in positive things, including being one step in the process towards better change regarding tiger conservation, increasing public awareness about tiger conservation, and getting support from the public to voice to the government regarding greater funding and increasing the status of the area.
