Running for two consecutive days at the Jakarta Theater in Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, on December 22 to 23, 2012, the performance of "Golden Path of Love - An Offering of Love for the Earth" received positive feedback. The theatrical performance depicting the journey of WWF's conservation efforts in Indonesia successfully drew the enthusiasm of hundreds of audiences each day.
Diana, a student from Al-Azhar University, Jakarta, was very satisfied to watch the 120-minute performance. "On a scale of 100, I would rate it 105," she said. "I was most moved and impressed by the fragment that depicted our tropical forests, which were once hectares, then destroyed by those who only thought of material gain. Initially, they cleared the forest because they wanted to build certain industries or businesses but they didn't know how to do it, so the forest was destroyed instead. That is very painful," she said. After watching the performance, Diana is determined to pay more attention to nature conservation in all aspects of her life. "If I become a state official one day, I will make policies that are pro-Earth conservation."
A similar tone was expressed by Aldo, a man who works as a journalist at a lifestyle magazine. "The show was good banget," he said straightforwardly. Aldo really liked the whole show. "Especially the part where Ratna Riantiarno and Adinia Wirasti read Prosa Lestari. Very memorable," he added.
"I like the way the message is conveyed in this performance. Over all, this show is very good," he said. Rory expressed willingness to attend again if WWF-Indonesia organizes a similar show.
violist Iskandar Wijaya and harpist Rama Widi collaborated. "Their performance was amazing," said Melvi.
According to Nina, a housewife who took the time to watch with her family, the message of this performance was quite good and successfully conveyed. "People and young people now have a high concern for environmental issues. They would really appreciate a show like this," he said.
Some criticisms and feedback were expressed by the audience. As expressed by Rory, "If I may suggest, the younger generation starting from elementary school classes should be mobilized to watch this performance. ""Let's say 30% of the performance seats are targeted for them, the rest for the general public. These children can be combined from schools in remote areas with excellent schools," he explains. He considers the younger generation at an early age to be a very important target for the show.
"Publications and information about this performance are lacking," Nina responded. She feels that the public is less aware of the event, which she thinks is very good. "That's a shame. Young people should be flocking to watch," she said.
"Although there were some parts that were too long and boring, the glamorous and unique costumes of the performers made up for it," Melvi commented. "Whether this was orchestrated by WWF or not, I caught another message that was inserted, which is about how our country is amazingly beautiful and has a rich cultural diversity. If there is indeed a message of nationalism that is also conveyed, I feel that this performance is very successful," Melvi concluded.
