AWARDING THE BEST INNOVATION OF THE FIRST ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY FISHING GEAR IN INDONESIA
As an effort to realize responsible fishing practices in accordance with the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation No. 2/PERMEN-KP/2015 regarding the prohibition of some fishing gear that is not environmentally friendly, the 2015 Environmentally Friendly Fishing Gear Competition organized by the Directorate General of Fishing Vessels and Fishing Gear (KAPI) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) together with WWF-Indonesia was attended by 91 participants.
Inspired by the International Smart Gear Competition program, the competition, which was held for the first time in Indonesia, sought fishing gear that was efficient, environmentally friendly and applicable to Indonesian fishermen in supporting responsible and environmentally friendly fisheries. The winner with the best innovation for the 2015 Eco-Friendly Fishing Gear Competition will be awarded by the Director of Fishing Vessels and Fishing Gear Ir Ida Kusuma held at:

Environmentally Friendly Fish Competition 2015
The assessment of the works is carried out based on LIFE (Low Impact, Fuel Efficient) Fishing and eco-friendly criteria, including the contribution to fuel savings (efficient in the use of fuel). In addition, the level of selectivity to the target species is high, the contribution to reducing bycatch, the negative impact on the environment / aquatic habitat is low, and the risk of harm is low.
