A group of young people were solemnly listening to Primayunta and Pratama Aditya - both facilitators from the Panda Mobile team - explain about animals categorized as umbrella species. Their eyes sparked with curiosity at the amount of information shared during Panda Mobile's Training On Trainer last Tuesday afternoon (17/02) at a coffee shop in Kemanggisan, West Jakarta.
"Today's event is a debriefing activity for 15 young people who are members of the world youth organization, AIESEC, within Bina Nusantara University. We are currently conducting an environmental project titled 'Dare to Care' which started from February 15 to March 30, 2015. We are very happy to partner with WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile team," said Liza Anggraini, Organizing Committee Leader AIESEC Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta. The environment-themed project is planned to conduct a roadshow to schools with Panda Mobile, plant trees, organize a seminar with the theme 'Simple Movement to Save Our Environment', visit a number of learning centers and free schools in marginalized areas, and conclude with a cultural sharing show in a public area in Alam Sutra area, South Tangerang.
The second session of the day's activities was filled with explanations from Irza Rinaldi, Public Engagement Profiling Officer WWF-Indonesia, about the sundries of Panda Mobile. He explained the various facilities available in WWF-Indonesia's six-wheeled truck and the various activities that can be carried out in its environmental education mission. "All programs in Panda Mobile are edutainment in nature. The volunteers involved in it are not only required to master the material but also to always smile friendly," he said.
After the second session, Tri Wibawanto, a facilitator from Panda Mobile, invited all participants to play for a while to relieve sleepiness. The two games were fun but orderly. The atmosphere that had been a little stiff and bored turned liquid and full of laughter.
The activity continued with a ""Reduce-Reuse-Recycle"" (3R) training session guided by Kak Tata and Kak Andre from Panda Mobile. Old newspapers and T-shirts were turned into functional bags. All participants then immediately showed off the results of their respective works.
"I really appreciate today's activity because I can finally get to know better and deeper the conservation activities carried out by WWF-Indonesia. It turns out that WWF-Indonesia's focus is not only on protecting endangered animals such as orangutans. However, it is also about educating children at school through Panda Mobile," said Niran, one of the participants who is still listed as a fourth semester student at the Faculty of Economics and Communication Sciences, Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta.
The day's activity was also attended by an AIESEC exchange program student from China, Tippany, who was no less enthusiastic about following session after session.
