The adult males can grow up to 60 cm in height, 250 cm in length, and 140 kg in weight. Meanwhile, the adult females has an average length of 198 cm and 91 kg weight. Their skin color is relatively darker with dense stripes.
This species threats are poaching, illegal trading, habitat reduction, and depletion of prey species. The hunters aim for all tiger’s body parts, from their skin, whiskers, nails, tusks, to their meat. Some of people groups believe that the body part of tigers are talisman and have magical powers.
We had been created tiger watch unit and collect the first ecological evidence of tigers. Until now we are still working in the field to monitoring tigers in three heartlands of sumatran tiger habitat (Rimbang Baling-Betabuh, Batanghari, and Bukit Tigapuluh). We also monitor illegal trade of tigers online and offline.
