We had been facilitating the Social Forestry Management Plan and Annual Work Plan for Social Forestry activities in 3 villages in the Katingan Corridor (Habangoi, Mangara, Kawei). This agenda was based om the potential of Sebangau Katingan Landscape that has 2.35 million hectares, 73.3% of it is still intact forest.
Arabela is one of WWF-Indonesia’s priority landscapes located in the Heart of Borneo and a home for important biodiversities and around 7,500 bornean orangutans (Pongo Pygmaeus), around 10-20 percent of the population left in Borneo.
The Hulu Kapuas Landscape has a forest cover area of 1.8 million ha with a total area of 4,583,152 ha. The area contains a number of important ecosystems, including: montane forests, freshwater ecosystems, peat swamps, lowland dipterocarp forests, riparian forests and lakes.
WWF-Indonesia collaborated with various partners to survey and monitor elephant habitat in Tulin Onsoi. The survey was conducted using the occupancy method, with a total survey area of approximately 100,000 Ha. This survey data will be very useful for basic decision-making for the implementation of elephant conservation in Kalimantan, both from the aspects of spatial planning, population management, habitat management and policy support from the government.
In an effort to build the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) that is in harmony with nature conservation through the concept of Sustainable Forest City, WWF-Indonesia supports the development of IKN in the form of providing capacity, analysis, and tools for monitoring, as well as biodiversity management.
