Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) collaborates with WWF Indonesia Foundation and the Bali Provincial Marine Fisheries Office to support marine conservation in Jembrana Regency, Bali. The location in Jembrana Regency, which is on the west coast of Bali, was chosen because it has very high marine potential, namely 187.4 Ha of mangrove ecosystems, 418.8 Ha of coral reef cover, and is one of the 14 main turtle nesting sites in Indonesia. In addition, the Jembrana Regency Government is also very active in protecting its marine ecosystems.
Marine conservation programs that will be carried out include rehabilitation of coral reef habitats using the rock pile method, monitoring of mangrove ecosystems, plastic waste management, strengthening the Kurma Asih Turtle Conservation Community Group, and strengthening community livelihoods through sustainable fisheries and marine ecotourism.
Currently, WWF Indonesia Foundation has supported the Indonesian government to assist 23 marine protected areas throughout Indonesia until they are officially designated by the government. Preserving marine ecosystems is our duty together, in order to maintain the source of life for future generations.
