Begin, born on January 18, 1980, obtained his Bachelor of Fisheries degree from the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Bogor Agricultural University (ITK IPB) in 2003 and his Master of Science degree in marine biology studies in 2009 from the same university. Since 2005, Begin has worked as a lecturer at ITK IPB. But in between his busy schedule as a lecturer, Begin is also actively involved in marine ecology research activities such as coral reefs, marine ecosystem rehabilitation, marine biota biodiversity, and the development of science-based diving. In addition, since 1997 until now, Begin is also a member of IPB's Fisheries Diving Club. During the Southwest Maluku Expedition, Begin served as an expert on corals and benthic biota, including observations of coral health and disease.
