WWF EMBRACES COMMUNITY OF NATURE LOVERS AND ADVENTURERS

Jakarta (04/08)-Conservation mission carried on by Jambore Petualang Indonesia (JPI)/The Jamboree of Indonesian Adventurers urged WWF-Indonesia sponsor the event. JPI Pers Conference held on Tuesday (04/08) in Department of Forestry office, South Jakarta, presented WWF-Indonesia Director of Climate and Energy Program Fitrian Ardiansyah, head of JPI committee Aji rahmat, and two senior officials from Department of Forestry as speakers.
Directorate General for Land Rehabilitation and Social Forestry, Departmen of Forestry Republic of Indonesia (RLPS Dephut) Ir. Indriastuti, MM and Head of Information Center, Department of Forestry, Ir. Masyhud, MM attended the conference as reperesenattives of Department of Forestry who totally endorses the event.
JPI aimed not only to channel all nature lovers and adventurers hobbies but also to express their great concern regarding forest existence and climate change issue. This act will be executed by all participants by planting thousands of trees in Rancaupas Perhutani (a state-owned Forestry Company in Indonesia) area which is going to be assisted by one man one tree ambassadors.
Directorate General of RLPS Ir Indriastuti, MM, said: “In 2009, we have a huge programme, one man one tree. Every person has to plant minimum 1 tree. So, all Indonesian people are aexpected to plant minimum one tree in 2009, as a fact there are no expceptions for infants. We have calculated, if the population is 230 millions people, so there has to be 230 millions of trees been planted.”
WWF-Indonesia sees this event as a great opportunity to accelerate conservation echo to all nature lovers particularly for saving our forest. “The adventurers are important components to support forest conservation effort. I expect this event can motivate them socialize the significant value of our forest. Secondly, they can also contribute in the forest conservation act. Lastly, they can play role as watch dog monitoring forest destruction practice they might witness, for insance illegal logging. They can report this to related institutions,” WWF-Indonesia Director of Climate and Energy Program Fitrian Ardiansyah explained.
In this large gathering of nature lovers, WWF will involve in RENEWS workshop (making recycled bag from used newspapers) and contribute in GDP (Global development Village) stand together with other nature conservation organizations.
