"WEAR IT WILD": WWF-INDONESIA'S 53RD HUT EXPRESSION OF LOVE
By: Muhammad Azhari Lubis (Panda Mobile Volunteer) and Natalia Trita Agnika
There was something different at the WWF-Indonesia Jakarta office on Friday (11/09). Almost all WWF Jakarta staff wore costumes in the style of animals that live in the wild, such as tigers, elephants, rhinos, sharks and turtles. They wore everything from hats to homemade costumes. Some even decorated their faces with face painting to resemble animal images. The excitement happened in commemoration of the 53rd anniversary of WWF-Indonesia's work in the field of conservation in Indonesia. This year's anniversary of WWF-Indonesia carries the theme "Wear It Wild". This theme invites all parties to express love for animals and their habitats in a simple but creative way.
The excitement of "Wear It Wild" has been seen since 10:00 am. The parking area at Graha Simatupang Tower 2 Unit C was transformed into an attractive place and enlivened by various stands in a bazaar event. Fish'n Blues, Panda Shop, Tisu Tessa, and various handicrafts as well as the Panda Mobile educational truck took part in WWF-Indonesia's birthday festivities.
"Wear It Wild" at the WWF Jakarta office also invited volunteers, families, relatives, schools, and the public around the office location to participate and spread the spirit of conservation. Students from SDN Pasar Minggu 01 and children from SOS Children Villages Cibubur were invited to participate in various activities. They observed plants in glass bottles on the Panda Mobile truck as part of environmental education. Afterwards, they were invited to join the office tour and make animal-shaped headbands and animal masks with WWF-Indonesia staff. Tisu Tessa organized a plant pot making competition from core used tissue rolls for the students.
After the Friday prayer service, all staff gathered on the 7th floor to cut tumpeng as an expression of gratitude and a sign of birthday celebration. On this occasion, the Toyota Hybrid key was also symbolically handed over from PT Toyota Astra Motor to WWF-Indonesia. The staff and invited guests then had lunch together while having hospitality.
The highlight of the "Wear It Wild" event at the WWF Jakarta office was a parade around the building by all staff. While wearing various animal-themed costumes with writings containing conservation messages, they sang several songs accompanied by musical instruments from used items. The day's event was closed with a group photo by all staff. "Look forward to a bright day ahead, be happy, spread the good news of conservation. We are the nation's asset," said Dr. Efransjah, CEO of WWF-Indonesia, in a written message to all WWF staff throughout Indonesia. Similar events were also held in WWF field offices in Indonesia with a variety of simple but creative activities.
