#TOGETHERPOSSIBLE: FOR A LIVING PLANET WITH WWF AND GALERIES LAFAYETTE
Galeries Lafayette collaborates with WWF-Indonesia in educating the younger generation and the public by giving and sharing about the concept of 'a living planet' through year-end festivities that carry the theme #TogetherPossible in the Polar Christmas series.
#TogetherPossible, a WWF global campaign adapted into Galeries Lafayette's year-end celebration themed Polar Christmas, invites children and families to get to know the Earth and its biodiversity better. Preserving the Earth's biodiversity means keeping it alive. Through this opportunity, Galeries Lafayette together with WWF-Indonesia opened its windows at the Galeries Lafayatte store in Pacific Place to display endangered animals in the world and in Indonesia.
Starting from the ground floor, where we will meet Polar Bears (Ursus maritimus) in the North Pole, Penguins (Spheniscidae) in the South Pole, and Pandas in Asia. The display at the Galeries Lafayette store conveys the message that there is only one planet Earth and whatever humans do in any part of the world will have an impact on those species and the health of our Earth.
Moving closer to home, Indonesia, the 1st floor of Galeries Lafayette features windows with illustrations of endangered marine species, such as Whales (Balaenoptera), Sharks (Carcharhinus falciformis), Turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata), and Coral Reefs. On the second floor, windows showcase Indonesia's natural heritage, such as the Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) and the endangered Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) and Rhino (Rhinoceros sondaicus and Dicerorhinus sumatrensis). The top floor represents the sky, the umbrella of our planet. The windows on that floor feature the endangered birds of paradise (Paradisaea apoda), hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros), and Javan eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi).
"Children and parents can also participate in various activities held on the weekend while learning about biodiversity 'a living planet'through storytelling sessions, 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle), coloring, making animal-shaped pillows, and various activities with Kleting Titis Wigati, Davina Veronica, IdekuHandmade by Martapuri, and Christmas Carol by Jamaica Café and friends while shopping for Christmas needs. Not only branded goods can be found, but also merchandise from WWF-Indonesia, Nadine Chandrawinata, Kleting Titis Wigati, and IdekuHandmade, part of which will be donated to support conservation. Parents can also donate trees that will be planted in WWF-Indonesia's conservation sites through the MyBabyTree donation program. Shopping can be a means of giving and sharing," said Melissa Ann Tjahyadikarta - Head Marketing Galeries Lafayette.
"#TogetherPossible is a WWF global campaign that invites the world community to jointly protect nature and its biodiversity regardless of where the animal is located or the form of nature conservation that must be implemented including through life style or urban lifestyle. The presence of protected and endangered animals in the windows of Galeries Lafayette provides an opportunity for the public to learn more about Indonesia's and the world's biodiversity and the threats they face, especially from urban communities and their lifestyles in an interactive and up-to-date way," according to Devy Suradji, Marketing Director of WWF-Indonesia.
Galeries Lafayette's collaboration with WWF will run until December 25, 2016 as a form of gratitude for Indonesia's natural wealth as well as a reminder that this wealth needs to be protected and fought for. This is in line with the atmosphere of Christmas and the end of 2016 which is always colored with the spirit of giving and sharing. #TogetherPossible shop for a Living Planet.
