WITH THOUSANDS OF CIVIL SOCIETY, WWF-INDONESIA REJECTS THE ENDORSEMENT OF MASS ORGANIZATION BILL IN INDONESIAN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Jakarta (2/7) – Nearly 100 activists of WWF-Indonesia gathered today along with thousands of civil society in front of the Indonesian House of Representatives Building, expressing their action in opposition to legalize the Mass Organization Bill.
Riding in four Metro Mini busses, approximately one hundred WWF-Indonesia’s staffs arrived in front of the Parliament Building in Senayan at 09.30 AM. With characteristic attributes, ranging from posters to unique trinkets, the team led by the CEO of WWF-Indonesia gave their voice, along with other civil societies.
""There are fundamental things that make WWF-Indonesia refused the Mass Organization Bill. These laws constrict the democratic space and lead to the silencing of civil liberties. Whereas, if civil society were given the freedom to move perfectly, they will be an asset for our nation's development,” said Dr. Efransjah, CEO of WWF-Indonesia.
""Moreover, this bill generalizes all types of civil society organizations, including the Foundation type that is already been set up by the Foundation Law, such as WWF,"" said Efransjah. What is to be achieved in the matter of the law, he said, was to be met through a variety of laws that already exists, so this bill is unnecessary and gives no benefits.
