An exciting news came from Menami. Thanks to the help and support of WWF-Indonesia supporters, the Floating Ranger Station Menami motorboat has sailed again. Not just sailing, this motorboat also became the research fleet of "XPDCKOON", an expedition to conduct ecological, social, and tourism potential surveys to maximize the management of Koon Marine Protected Area. Menami became the floating base for the researchers during the expedition from April 13-25, 2016. This was the Menami's maiden voyage after being damaged.

Some time ago, Menami's engine had weakened and lost its carrying capacity. However, the real contribution of WWF-Indonesia Supporters through the "Emergency Call" program entitled "Help Menami Sail" has been able to make Menami function again. The donations collected are used to replace the damaged engine, repair costs, and operational costs so that Menami can be used in expeditions. WWF-Indonesia's research motorboat has a coverage area of operation in the Sunda Banda Seascape in the coral reef triangle (Coral Triangle).

Expeditions or research trips play an important role as one of the determining factors for conservation success. Through observation and research, researchers at WWF-Indonesia collect data that are useful in determining conservation measures. Observation and research activities are not easy, especially when covering large areas and rugged terrain, such as in marine areas. For this reason, an expedition needs to be supported with adequate equipment and facilities.

With the support of WWF-Indonesia Supporters, Menami added to the historical record of expeditions that have been carried out. Previously, Menami was involved in the Kei Besar Expedition and the "XPDCFloresAlor" Expedition (2014). Through various expedition activities, efforts to conserve and save biological wealth in the archipelago's oceans can continue to be improved.
