Hotel Santika Premiere Bintaro is committed to helping preserve sharks and dugongs through real action. This commitment was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement on Thursday (25/01) yesterday in a Talkshow & Press Conference event at Hotel Santika Premiere Bintaro. Hotel Santika Premiere Bintaro's real action in shark and dugong protection is realized through a commitment not to sell any form of shark in the menu they offer. The same thing is also done in the preservation of dugong.
"We want to provide real action for the environment and I think WWF as an organization that has long existed can jointly do this," said Bangkit Ciptadi as Director of Sales and Marketing Hotel Santika Premiere Bintaro.
In its efforts to support marine conservation, Hotel Santika Premier Bintaro also supports the #SOSharks campaign initiated by WWF-Indonesia. #SOSharks is short for Save Our Sharks, which is a campaign to stop the sale of sharks in supermarkets, online stores, and restaurants as well as to stop the promotion of shark cuisine in the mass media.
Arnold Sitompul, Conservation Director WWF-Indonesia said that the Soshark campaign was started because there is a significant decline in the number of shark species globally and Indonesia as one of the centers of shark populations in the world needs to pay special attention. Protecting sharks, which are top predators, is expected to maintain ecosystem harmony.
Hotel Santika Premiere Bintaro will also provide education to guests and donate related to shark and dugong conservation. Through the booth WWF-Indonesia which will be present at the Santika Premiere Bintaro Hotel, hotel guests can directly ask about various conservation efforts that have been carried out for the preservation of nature and can directly contribute to a sustainable nature.
Bycatch and Shark Conservation Coordinator and Casandra Tania, WWF-Indonesia's Marine Species Officer. "Doing activities that support the conservation of sharks and other marine animals can be (done through) many things, such as by signing petitions, supporting funds, or by not consuming them," Dwi Ariyoga Gautama explained.
Casandra Tania added that there are four things the public can do to help conserve sharks and dugongs. The first is by learning about these marine species in various media. The second thing is to report if there is information about these protected animals. Discipline is the third thing we can do, which is by not making trash in the sea. The fourth is to support or spread the word when there is a campaign. Businesses can support the campaign by helping existing conservation programs.
The collaboration between Hotel Santika Premiere Bintaro and WWF-Indonesia is expected to provide knowledge, build awareness, and ultimately be able to invite guests, partners of Hotel Santika Premiere Bintaro, and the wider community to act for the preservation of nature.
