RESPONSIBLE SEAFOOD FESTIVAL 'NOT YOUR ORDINARY FISH MARKET' 2015
In order to maintain the health benefits of seafood, we must understand the intricacies of selecting, processing, and how the fishery products are caught or farmed. Especially with the many news reports about food products contaminated with contaminants that cause harm to human health and threaten marine ecosystems due to fishing that is not environmentally friendly.
In the framework of World Ocean Day (World Ocean Day) which falls every June 8 and Coral Triangle Day (Coral Triangle Day) on June 9, WWF-Indonesia together with Turtle Guard from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, will organize Responsible Seafood Festival 2015 entitled "Not an Ordinary Fish Market". The event will be held on:
Day/Date: Saturday-Sunday13-14 June 2015
Time : 08.00-21.00 WITA
Place : Beach AreaBali Anggrek Inn, Kuta, Bali
"Not an Ordinary Fish Market" is one of the series of the Responsible Seafood Campaign (Responsible Seafood) with the hashtag #BeliYangbaik, which aims to invite all parties to make good choices of fishery products based on reliable information. In this event, the public can directly find out more about environmentally friendly fisheries practices, buy quality seafood products and appreciate the fishermen and seafood farmers - who are members of JARING Nusantara (JARNUS).
The 'Not an Ordinary Fish Market' event was also supported by the BaleBengong Community, Earth Hour Denpasar, Marine Buddies Bali, as well as the private sector and business actors who are members of the Seafood Savers Initiative. The involvement of these supporting parties targets changes in public behavior as producers and consumers of seafood in reducing pressure on fisheries that have or are close to reaching 'overfished' status.
