POLAR BEAR
Did you know that polar bears often rely on hunting in silence? They will patiently wait near a hole until they sense a seal moving to the surface.
Polar bears are great swimmers, but they prefer to stay on the ice that covers the Arctic Sea year-round. That's where they find mates, hunt, and raise their young. Polar bears help us understand what is happening in the Arctic. When polar bears are in danger of extinction it can signal that something is wrong with the marine ecosystem in the Arctic.
Climate change and loss of sea ice habitat are the biggest threats to polar bears. The impacts of these changes are the first to be felt and have devastating consequences in the Arctic.
