PLASTIC WASTE REDUCTION CAMPAIGN THROUGH TUMBLER DONATION

A discourse to conduct a study to issue rules for all tourists and tourist boats not to bring bottled mineral water into the Komodo National Park (TNK) area was raised in August 2017. The average waste generated by the Komodo National Park area from the tourist area is 0.19 m3/day or 0.008 tons per day. The issue of waste in the TNK area is a serious concern, especially plastic waste. The same thing is also experienced by other national parks, including Wakatobi National Park. During the Beach Clean Up event last April 2018, volunteers managed to collect 1.7 tons of waste in the Wakatobi National Park area in just two hours. A condition that is very concerning.
Therefore, various efforts to reduce the potential for increased plastic waste generation need to be supported. This is what PT Dusdusan Dotcom Indonesia (Dusdusan.com) has done to support the government's program to control single-use plastic waste. On August 20, 2018, Dusdusan.com donated 500 tumblers through WWF-Indonesia to support the Zero Single Use Plastic campaign.
The tumblers will be distributed to several national parks in Indonesia, including Komodo National Park, Cenderawasih Bay National Park, Wakatobi National Park, Bunaken National Park, Pantar Strait MPA, and Ujung Kulon National Park. Currently, a number of tumblers have been distributed to Mempawah West Kalimantan, Wakatobi, Labuan Bajo, Maluku, and Bali. During the Mempawah Mangrove Festival in August 2018, tumblers were distributed as prizes for the winners of the competition in the hope of mobilizing the awareness of the younger generation to reduce the use of disposable bottled water. Mempawah Mangrove Festival is a festival that is organized to echo more widely about saving mangrove forests to various lines.
With the donation of tumblers to a number of national parks, it is hoped that it can have a positive impact on environmental improvement. In addition, the tumbler campaign is also expected to motivate all levels of society that reducing plastic waste can be done in various ways, starting from small things and starting from yourself.
