PANDA
Did you know that the panda eats up to 38 kg bamboo a day? Pandas are also good swimmers and excellent tree climbers.
The giant panda is perhaps the most powerful symbol in the world when it comes to species conservation. While its numbers are slowly increasing, the giant panda remains one of the rarest and most endangered bears in the world. The giant panda has just been downgraded from ‘Endangered’ to ‘Vulnerable’ on the global list of species at risk of extinction, demonstrating how an integrated approach can help save our planet’s vanishing biodiversity.
However, pandas remain vulnerable, and much of their habitat is threatened by poorly-planned infrastructure projects. There are still only 1,864 left in the wild.
