The ceremony was held in Perhutani area in Tugu Utara Village, Cibulao Village, Puncak Area, West Java, marked by planting tree seedlings by PT Indosat President Director Alexander Rusli and WWF-Indonesia CEO Dr. Efransjah. The inauguration was also attended by several directors of PT Indosat and WWF-Indonesia, including Group Head Corporate Communications of PT Indosat, Fuad Fachroeddin, Head of Region Jabotabek of PT Indosat, Suwignyo, Head of Sales of PT Indosat Bodetabek area, Soejanto Prasetya, and Marketing Director of WWF-Indonesia, Devy Suradji.
In his speech, Alexander Rusli said that donations do not always have to be in large amounts. With a small nominal participation but sustainable can also bring impactful change. Especially through the medium of services on mobile phones that are very familiar to the public, short message service (SMS). By typing *123*50#, Indosat customers can choose the nominal donation ranging from Rp 2,000,- to Rp 10,000,- This SMS donation program is valid during November 2014 to January 2015.
For donations towards critical land reforestation, Alex continued, it will send an official letter inviting all Indosat postpaid customers to participate through the MyBabyTree program. Namely, by planting trees in conservation areas managed by WWF-Indonesia. Donors will be able to monitor the location and progress of their trees through geo-tags and receive an e-certificate.
Closing his remarks, Alex revealed that the real awareness to live a green lifestyle and care for the environment is not only for future generations but also for ourselves. "We can see that nowadays the weather is changing very fast. This is a sign of natural imbalance. We must act immediately."
The plan is that Indosat will also launch the Reload Program for Conservation via electronic vouchers. The momentum is to welcome the Earth Hour campaign in March 2015. The program is designed to allow every Indosat customer who reloads via electronic vouchers to donate to conservation programs undertaken by WWF-Indonesia.
