EVALUATION OF COOPERATION FOR SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES IN INDONESIA

Since 2010, WWF-Indonesia has been working with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) to create better fisheries in Indonesia. The cooperation that is contained in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) explains WWF's role as a partner of KKP in an effort to intensify and synergize cooperation for sustainable fisheries in Indonesia. Last August was the end of the agreement that has lasted for four years, so that evaluation and follow-up are needed for the future.
The evaluation, which was packaged in a meeting between the two parties, was held at the Borobudur Hotel on September 5. Secretary General of KKP, Sjarief Widjaja attended and officially opened the evaluation meeting of this cooperation, which was also attended by Executive Director of WWF-Indonesia Dr. Efransjah. In this evaluation meeting, Sjarief expressed his appreciation for WWF's performance as one of KKP's partners, and stated that KKP is ready to continue its cooperation with WWF around spatial management and marine resources, and sustainable management patterns as partners with comparable positions."WWF and KKP need to sit together to share lessons and experiences," added Sjarief Widjaja.
The Evaluation Meeting was attended by Echelon I and II level representatives from each scope of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The meeting was filled with a presentation of WWF-Indonesia's work by the director of WWF-Indonesia's Coral Triangle, Wawan Ridwan. In his opportunity, Wawan Ridwan conveyed various results covered in 5 scopes of cooperation between WWF and KKP 1.
The submission of the achievements of the results of cooperation covered in the five scopes was then followed by a discussion to get input both criticism and suggestions from the meeting participants, then used as a record in continuing various cooperation both ongoing and to be implemented. This Evaluation Meeting is expected to be an effective step towards future cooperation between WWF-Indonesia and KKP as partners in order to achieve results that support sustainable fisheries in Indonesia for current and future generations.

(3) Cooperation with the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries and Aquaculture in the Scope of facilitating efforts to manage and utilize marine and fisheries resources in a sustainable and responsible manner;
(4) Cooperation with BPSDMKP in the Scope of organizing educational activities, training, counseling and public campaigns regarding marine and fishery resources and their ecosystems;
(5) Cooperation with BALITBANG-KP, namely in the Scope of conducting research and development and policy studies related to the conservation of marine and fishery resources and their ecosystems.
