DAVINA INVITES THE PUBLIC TO CARE ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF THE COSMETICS THEY USE

WWF-Indonesia and Galeries Lafayette's collaboration in #TogetherPossible for a Living Planet presents 15 windows at Galeries Lafayette in Pacific Place featuring endangered animals in the world and in Indonesia. The collaboration is also realized through various exciting environmental-themed activities involving several collaborators that will take place for one month until December 25, 2016.
One of the collaborators involved is Davina Veronica. This Honorary Supporter of WWF-Indonesia has long had a concern for the environment and become an animal fighter. As a figure who has long been in the world of fashion and modeling, Davina has a special view on conservation. According to her, all activities done by humans, no matter how small, will definitely have an impact on each other because everything is interconnected. "Fashion industry players must also be aware that whatever materials are used in their products, they must know where they come from and what effect they have on the Earth," she said in a press conference held at Galeries Lafayette on Friday (25/11).
Davina's experience visiting the orangutan's native habitat made her more concerned about the origin of the goods she consumes, one example is cosmetic products. "Palm oil has many derivatives, not just cooking oil and butter. Many of the cosmetics we use daily use palm oil, such as lotions, lipsticks, and many more," Davina explained, commenting on the many conversions of forests into palm oil plantations that have put orangutans under increasing pressure.
In front of the media, Davina reminded them that orangutans have a very important role in the ecosystem. As seed dispersers, orangutans help regenerate forests. "Orangutans eat a large amount of seeds. When eating, many seeds are wasted. Well, these seeds will grow into trees and help the forest to regenerate," he added.
Saving orangutans can be done by saving their habitat, the forest. Using products made from materials that do not damage the forest is one way to do this. Therefore, in collaboration with WWF-Indonesia and Galeries Lafayette, Davina will share with the younger generation through Beauty Class and sharing about orangutans. The hope is that the younger generation can care more about the environment, starting with asking the origin of cosmetics used daily and encouraging manufacturers to provide environmentally certified products.
"We all have a role to play in creating a better environment. For those who want to know the Beauty Class activities while chatting about orangutans and palm oil, please come to Galeries Lafayette on Saturday (10/12/2016)," she invited.
