CYCLOPS REFORESTATION IN CELEBRATING THE WORLD WATER DAY
Jayapura, 29/03/2008 – There are some activities were held due to the Water World Day in Papua, but for the main event there was reforestation around the Nature Reserve of Cyclops Mountains in Sentani, Jayapura.

This reforestation event started symbolically by Provincial Chancellor of Papua, Drs Tedjo soeprapto, MM dan then followed by all the invitations and participants. Provincial Chancellor also read the speech of Papua Governor, which hopes there will be some coordination among concerned parties in maintaining the water availibility. Due to the water absorbent improvement, water availability, the lack of water quality because of wasting disposal to the river and it threats the water absorbent for the cause of opening the new area and mining around the mountain.

Bali which resulted how important reforestation is to reduse the effect of global warming. Furthermore, to reforestate around the Cyclops was great because Cyclops contributes the water absorbent for people in Jayapura and its surrounding.
This event was attended by not more than 300 participants, including PDAM staffs Jayapura District, UNICEF in Papua, Labour Government Instituion of Papua, Forestry Government Instituion of Papua, Jayapura Technology and Science University (USTJ) students, SMUN 1 Sentani students dan some student from varied elementary schools in Sentani.
