A meeting for coordination and evaluation on Heart of Borneo program in WWF-Indonesia was organized on 10-11 June 2009. This was also part of preparation to end the fiscal year. The meeting was attended by all implementing staff related to the Heart of Borneo, both programs (West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan) and thematic (Global Forest Trade Network, Forest Conversion Program, Environmental Education, Species, Spatial Planning, REDD-Climate).
In the meeting, presentation and discussion were made on current developments of each project and thematic, as well as achievements in 1 fiscal year (July 2008-June 2009). The meeting also explored gaps and constraints. The fruit of two-days meeting mapped some strategies in the next workplan until 2010.
Some important notes appeared in the meeting, such as the importance to complete some baseline studies as the initial information before the implementation of the Heart of Borneo program; and strategic activities including partnerships, in regards with conservation districts, ecological corridor that links between protected areas, extractive activities (such as mining and plantations) and initiatives in a sustainable forest management.
