CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE BY LOVING INDONESIA'S NATURE
By: Fauzia M Kusmarani (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
The Republic of Indonesia is one of the countries with the greatest natural wealth in the world. Thousands of islands in the territory of NKRI are home to flora and fauna that have their own benefits and uniqueness. The love and desire to protect Indonesia's natural wealth is part of the community's gratitude for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
This message is the essence of Panda Mobile activities in Kemang Regency Housing, Bogor, last Saturday (25/08). As part of a series of events celebrating the 73rd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, WWF-Indonesia's volunteer Panda Mobile team had the opportunity to participate in sharing conservation messages with the community. The event opened with an introduction from the team and a glimpse of information about WWF-Indonesia's programs. Next, a storytelling activity by Kak Ryan took the children on an adventure to explore the forest where orangutans live on the island of Sumatra. The story, which was full of conservation messages and appreciation for Indonesian freedom fighters, was delivered humorously and succeeded in attracting the public's interest to be immersed in the story.< br />
After the storytelling, children were invited to explore more deeply through educational animations on the Panda Mobile truck. Volunteers took turns inviting children to discuss biodiversity and the six animals protected by WWF-Indonesia. In the coloring activity that was held afterwards, the children were guided to get to know the six animals along with their characteristics and the environment where they live.
The activity that took place from 17.00 to 20.00 received a positive response from the community. "Activities like this are very interesting and memorable for children," said one resident who accompanied his children in coloring activities at Panda Mobile. The children's interest and joy on that day was a breath of fresh air for conservationists in Indonesia. Through Panda Mobile, the spirit of conservation will continue to be disseminated as an effort to celebrate Indonesia's independence.
