Dr. Dicky P. Simorangkir, Pimpinan Baru Yayasan WWF Indonesia

Badan Pengurus Yayasan WWF Indonesia mengumumkan pengangkatan Dr. Dicky P. Simorangkir sebagai Direktur Eksekutif/Chief Executive Officer Yayasan WWF Indonesia dan resmi mulai bergabung pada tanggal 1 Oktober 2020. 

Sebelum bergabung bersama Yayasan WWF Indonesia, Dicky adalah Country Director Indonesia - The Zoological Society of London (ZSL). Dicky memiliki pengalaman kerja di berbagai lembaga internasional, yang mendukung upaya-upaya konservasi secara khusus dan pembangunan berkelanjutan pada umumnya di beberapa negara, antara lain negara-negara anggota ASEAN (Brunei Darussalam, Kamboja, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Filipina, Singapura, Thailand, Vietnam), Jerman, dan Belanda. 

Dalam karirnya, Dicky telah menduduki berbagai posisi dalam organisasi tempatnya bekerja, di antaranya sebagai Director for 2 Regional (Southeast Asia) Project in Biodiversity Sector – GIZ; International Senior Advisor for Biodiversity & Project Director for Biodiversity and Climate Change Project Southeast Asia – GIZ; Director of Terrestrial/Forest Program for Indonesia – The Nature Conservancy (TNC); Director for Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and Timor Leste – RARE Conservation; Director of Indonesia Programme –– Tropenbos International (TBI); Deputy Director of Project Fire Fight South East Asia – IUCN - WWF International; Deputy Project Leader and Senior Advisor at GTZ/GFA Social Forestry Development Project (SFDP) – GFA (Gesellschaft für Agrarprojekte); dan Forest Management Senior Advisor in East Kalimantan – German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ).

Selain itu, ia adalah salah-satu pendiri High Conservation Value Network Indonesia, dan pernah menjadi anggota dari National Commission of Man and Biosphere (MaB) Programme of UNESCO dan FAO Expert Panel on Land Tenure. Posisi lain yang diembannya adalah sebagai Board di Yayasan Tropenbos Indonesia, dan pernah menjadi Penasihat Senior Pengelolaan Hutan di Proyek Pengelolaan Hutan Berkelanjutan sewaktu berkarya di GTZ, serta Penasihat Senior dan Koordinator Penelitian Hutan di Proyek Kehutanan Indonesia-Jerman (IGFP) di Kalimantan Timur. Di kurun waktu tahun1989 hingga 1994, Dicky adalah ilmuwan di Universitas Goettingen, Jerman. Dari universitas yang sama, ia memperoleh gelar PhD di bidang Kehutanan pada tahun 1994. 

Berbekal pengalaman, antusiasme, energi, serta kepemimpinan yang kuat, Dicky berkomitmen akan melanjutkan upaya-upaya peningkatan kinerja organisasi Yayasan WWF Indonesia guna memastikan tercapainya tujuan utama organisasi yaitu mendukung Pemerintah dan mitra-mitra konservasi lainnya dalam menjaga ekosistem dan keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia yang dikelola secara berkelanjutan dan merata, untuk kesejahteraan generasi sekarang dan yang akan datang. 

Di samping itu, sebagai pucuk pimpinan Dicky akan memastikan bahwa sebagai bagian dari jaringan WWF global, Yayasan WWF Indonesia akan berbagi nilai-nilai yang sama, yang senantiasa tertanam dan memandu setiap individu WWF dalam bekerja dan berperilaku yaitu courage; collaboration; respect; dan integrity. 

Besar harapan, seluruh pemangku kepentingan organisasi berkenan menerima dan menyambut dengan tangan terbuka Dicky beserta keluarga besar Yayasan WWF Indonesia sebagai mitra kerja dalam beragam kerja konservasi demi mencapai Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDG) dan bersama-sama menjadikan Bumi sebagai rumah terbaik bagi seluruh mahluk hidup.

WELCOMING DR. DICKY P. SIMORANGKIR, THE NEW CEO OF WWF-INDONESIA


The Board of Trustees of WWF-Indonesia Foundation announces today the appointment of Dr. Dicky P. Simorangkir as the new Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of WWF-Indonesia starting October 1st 2020.

Prior to joining us, Dicky was the Indonesia Country Director of The Zoological Society of London (ZSL). He has an extensive working experience in various international organizations, which support both conservation and sustainable development works in several countries, including ASEAN member countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam), Germany and the Netherlands.

Beside his professional journey, Dicky accomplished scientific capability as a co-founder of the High Conservation Value Network Indonesia, a member of the National Commission of Man and Biosphere (MaB) Program of UNESCO and the FAO Expert Panel on Land Tenure. In addition, Dicky  is now a Board Member of the Tropenbos Indonesia Foundation, he has been a Senior Forest Management Advisor for the Sustainable Forest Management Project while working at GTZ, as well as Senior Advisor and Forest Research Coordinator at the Indonesia-Germany Forestry Project (IGFP) in East Kalimantan. From 1989 to 1994, Dicky was a scientist at the University of Goettingen, Germany from which he obtained his PhD in Forestry in 1994.

Armed with experience, enthusiasm, energy, and strong leadership, Dicky is committed to continuously improving the performance of WWF Indonesia Foundation in achieving organization’s goals in supporting the Government and other conservation partners in protecting and ensuring a sustainable and equitable management of Indonesia's ecosystem and biodiversity, for the welfare of present and future generations.

As the leader, Dicky will ensure that WWF Indonesia will share the same values of working and behaviour with the global network as the guide for each and every individual in WWF-Indonesia, thy are courage, collaboration, respect, and integrity.
